What area of Sheridan does this address?

At the core, this project will address Main Street from Burkitt to 5th Streets, but the adjacent streets and streets one to two blocks off of Main Street will also be addressed in the broader sense with the Action Plan.

How is this project funded?

This project is funded largely by a grant from Community Builders. The City of Sheridan is contributing a 50% match.

What is the project timeline? How long will this take?

Project planning began in January 2018 and the Action Plan is estimated to be complete by June 2018. Proposals in the Plan will be examined and tested over the next few years in advance of the WYDOT design process for their resurfacing of Main Street in 2023 or thereabouts.

What’s in it for us? What do businesses and citizens get out of the project?

The goal of this project is to enhance Sheridan’s Dowtown vitality and to ensure it thrives into the future. The process and final Plan will endeavor to identify agreeable streetscape upgrades to encourage community gathering and to expand opportunities for social and business interaction.

How will this be implemented?

The key to the success of this project is the coordination and cooperation of the City, WYDOT, local businesses and residents. These stakeholders will identify streetscape improvements and work together to test and implement the ideas over the long term. Dovetailing with community events may offer opportunities to try ideas and solicit feedback from the community for further consideration.
